DESCRIPTION

Textile work combining Gel Plate Monotype, Hand Dyeing and Hand Distressed Finishing. Featuring Rrose Sélavy, Marcel Duchamp’s alter ego, alongside Niandra LaDes, John Frusciante’s alter ego, with references to Eros, c’est la vie and My Smile Is a Rifle. Drawing on the parallel construction of alternate identities across art and music, the composition explores identity as a space where the self can recede and another persona take over, bringing together transformation, authorship and creative expression. Built through chemical aging and fading, the surface continues to evolve through wear and washing.
