Textile work combining Gel Plate Monotype and Hand Distressed Finishing. Featuring images from On Kawara’s Thanatophanies on the front alongside representations of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the words Mushroom Clouds on the back. Drawing on the nuclear anxiety and postwar trauma that informed Kawara’s early drawings, the composition brings together human vulnerability, destruction and mortality, connecting the physical consequences of nuclear violence with its enduring psychological impact. Built through gel plate transfers, intensive chemical aging processes and manual distressing, the surface continues to evolve through wear and washing.
